What I need to price your job accurately

How is a translation project priced?

A few key factors go into putting together a quote:

  • Word count – How long is the text?
πŸ‘‰ Tip: the number of pages alone isn’t very helpful unless you also send a couple of sample pages. That way, I can get a feel for the word count, terminology and any layout features that need to be reproduced.

  • Terminology – Does the document use any specialised or sector-specific language?

  • Layout – Are there particular design or formatting elements (tables, columns, bullet points, etc.) that need to be replicated in the translation?

  • Format – What format does the translation need to be in? This usually depends on where the document is going and who’s receiving it (e.g. an official body in a specific country).
